Located in central Indiana, Anderson, is part of Madison County.  The city is named for Chief William “Adam” Anderson, whose mother was a Delaware Indian. His Indiana name was Kikthawenund meaning “creaking boughs”, “making a noise” or “causing a crack”.  The town was formerly known as “The Heathen Town Four Miles Away” at one point, Anderson Town, and later shortened to Anderson in 1844. In 1838 it was incorporated as a town with 350 inhabitants.  It wasn’t until 1852 with the completion of the Indianapolis Bellefontaine Railroad that the town began to burst to life. Today it populates over 56,000 people. Anderson is the world headquarters of the Church of God since 1905.  Also home to the historic Paramount Theatre.
